    Description

    Boat Windows Cut To Size

Plastic sheeting is an excellent choice for fitting and equipping all kinds of marine vessels; from boat windows to portholes, passenger deck screens and ferry windows. The uses for Perspex® acrylic and polycarbonate are as versatile as numerous.

At plasticsheets.com, we stock the highest quality cast Perspex® sheets. You can depend on your cut to size acrylic to be strong, durable, resistant to weathering, and always there when needed. All Perspex® sheeting comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

You can choose between clear or coloured options, in a variety of thicknesses, transparencies, shapes, and sizes. Plastic panels are wonderfully customisable and exceptionally strong, while being easy to work with, so they will suit any environment.

Strong and Versatile Plastic Boat Windows

Cast acrylic sheets come in 85 colours, ranging from clear, hued, transparent, semi-transparent to opaque. Depending on the type of window or marine vessel you are outfitting, you can find the right cut to size boat window for you.

Cast acrylic plastic sheeting is up to 20 times stronger than glass and extremely resistant to difficult weather conditions. Polycarbonate is 200 times stronger than glass and virtually unbreakable.

A cast Perspex® sheet can withstand temperatures as low as -20°C and as high as +30°, while polycarbonate can withstand temperature variations from -50C°C to 100°C. This means that plastic panels are perfect for the unpredictable and sometimes harsh water conditions.

Acrylic sheets offer excellent chemical resistance and good electrical insulation properties. Perspex® sheets are considerably flame and heat-resistant, having a Class 3 Fire Rating. Polycarbonate has an excellent Class 1 rating.

    Clear Cast Acrylic Boat Windows

A clear boat window it beautifully see-through and pristine, letting all the sunshine in and illuminating the spaces well. However, if you’d prefer the look of glass, we have a Glass Look sheeting that accomplishes just that. The attractive green hue of this plastic sheet, best visible at the edge, is almost indistinguishable from a glass pane.

Whether you are outfitting a small vessel or a large one, clear acrylic sheeting is a great choice for see-through window panes in boats, yachts, or ferries.

    Coloured Cast Acrylic Boat Windows

A hued acrylic sheet is a fantastic alternative for glass windows. Cut to size, tinted acrylic sheets are ideal for boat windows and porthole glazing. Thanks to the varied transparencies you can find a boat window that suits your need for privacy while looking stunning.

You can instal a darkly-hued, privacy screen of Dark Grey Perspex® or a fun, colourful fluorescent acrylic sheet like Acid Green. Our sheeting is versatile and customisable, so we can supply you with he right colour, cut, and shape of made to measure plastic boat windows.

    Polycarbonate Boat Windows

Polycarbonate is an exceptionally strong, virtually unbreakable material, which makes it a virtually unbreakable boat window. You can safely instal a polycarbonate boat window in large and small vessels, resting assured that it will stand up to the test.

Despite its strength, polycarbonate has almost identical weight and properties of acrylic sheeting, resulting in ease of fitting, cutting, and a great durability.

Polycarbonate is as fearless as you will be, conquering choppy waters.

    FAQ

General Clear Perspex Sheet Product FAQs

    What is Perspex®?
Perspex® is a leading brand and manufacturer of high-quality acrylic sheeting. It is made of Poly(methyl methacrylate), or PMMA. Other popular producers of PMMA are Lucite® and Plexiglas®.

What’s the difference between Acrylic and Perspex®?
Acrylic is the material from which plastic sheeting is made. Perspex® is the brand name.

What is the difference between Clear Perspex® Acrylic and Clear Polycarbonate?
These products are very similar, but polycarbonate is chemically strengthened to be smashproof. Our Polycarbonate sheeting also offers UV protection.

What is the expected lifespan of acrylic plastic sheeting?
Our Perspex® acrylic is expected to perform well for approximately 10 years. The longevity of plastic sheeting depends on the conditions in which it’s used, such as temperature, wear and tear, and maintenance.

What is the weight difference between acrylic plastic sheeting and glass?
Perspex® plastic sheets are usually half the weight of glass. Perspex® weighs 1.19kg per 1m² per 1 mm of thickness. For example, a 2mm sheet would weigh 2.38kg per 1m²

What is the difference between clear Perspex® and Glass Look Perspex®?
Our Glass Look has an attractive, light green tint which makes it look like traditional glass. This effect is visible but lighter in colour than sheets from our tinted range.

What is the light transparency of clear Perspex®?
The light transparency of clear acrylic Perspex® is 92%, more than glass, which is 83-90% transparent.

What is the light transparency of Glass Look Perspex®?
Glass Look Perspex® has a light transparency of 82% and a green tint. Glass is 83-90% transparent.

Can I use acrylic as a kitchen or bathroom splashback?
Yes, plastic sheets are a great alternative to tile splashbacks. Perspex® sheeting is easy to install, cleans well and it’s very durable. However, acrylic is not suitable for use around gas hobs. If you want to use a plastic splashback next to an electric cooker, make sure that it’s not exposed to any open flames and fitted at a safe distance, of a minimum of 50 mm from the heat source.

Are there more resistant alternatives to acrylic sheeting?
Yes. we recommend PETG sheeting. PETG has a class 1 fire rating, as well as strong chemical resistance.

What is the fire rating of Clear Perspex®?
Clear Perspex® has a Class 4 or 3 Fire Rating, depending on thickness.

I’ve ordered Clear Perspex® but my sheet is blue. What should I do?
Our clear plastic sheets come covered with two protective films, one on each side. They can be blue in colour and difficult to remove. Due to the reflective properties of this protective film, your transparent sheeting might appear blue until all film is removed completely from the surfaces.

Can I store Perspex® acrylic sheets?
Yes. If you aren’t ready to use your plastic sheeting yet or have leftover pieces you’d like to keep, you can store it yourself. Plastic sheets can be stored vertically or horizontally, as long as there’s no sag or bending. Please make sure to keep your acrylic sheeting away from excessive heat or very low temperatures, as well as sunlight.
